Monster High: Haunted comes to DVD

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of Monster High: Haunted. The next installment in the animated Monster High series is being released via a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD combo pack. Street date is March 24, 2015.  Synopsis: Lurk what's waiting for the Monster High ghouls when they bring their killer fashion to the howlways of the spooktacular Haunted High! When the ghouls of Monster High follow Spectra Vondergeist one day, they discover a creeperiffic Ghost World with an all-spirit school. But their scary-cute student bodies are hardly welcome with the very strict Principal Revenant, and she punishes Spectra with frightful detention chains that prevent her from re-joining Monster High. Now, it's up to the imperfectly perfect friends to take on ghostly forms in order to save one of their own from disappearing forever!  The Blu-ray release of Monster High: Haunted is presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. Special features include a collection of bonus animated shorts.

Hey Ghouls and Mansters! Catty here. We have some fangtastic news--Monster High is headed to the fright lights, big city in our very first musical, Boo York, Boo York! All your favorite ghouls will be there - taking in the sights from Times Scare to the Monster Of Liberty! We'll be shopping for out-of-this-world fashions to wear to a fabulous party celebrating the rare Crystal Comet passing overhead! They say the Comet has mysterious magical powers - and the whole city is buzzing with "Comet Fever" about the big night! It's sure to be stellar.

We'll take in a show, but the plays on Bloodway aren't the only drama going on in Boo York when Monster High's favorite couple, Cleo and Deuce, BREAK UP! Though it all, we'll make some terror-riffic new friends! Like Elle Elledee, the music-loving DJ daughter of a Robot...Luna Motthews - daughter of the Mothman, she was drawn to the bright lights of old Bloodway. Then there's Moucedes King, the daughter of the Rat King from the Upper Beast Side--she's a bit of a spoiled rat, but has a heart of gold. And when the comet arrives - so does Astra Nova, a starry-eyed ghoul who pays a visit from the skies.

Amazon Posts BRAND NEW! Monster High Exchange students

Hey Mansters & Ghouls, Big news from Amazon this week as they posted 4 brand new Monster Exchange dolls.... While we do not have pictures yet we do know these are scareficial trademarks by Mattel. ENJOY!

On December 4th Amazon posted up some new ghouls as part of the Monster Exchange line as out of stock. No photos are up yet. That means the dolls are coming shortly!

Monster High causes the fall of Barbi-lon

I am torn typing this since I grew up with America's fav blonde bombshell doll, but alas the time has come to face the truth after 54 years the queen of Barbi-lon must bow to others. I am sure Cleo and Nefera will be thrilled that the De Nile of Barbie has come to an end.

So let's get to the all of the freaky facts on this subject.

Barbie sales are still tumbling.

Barbie dolls are losing favor with kids. 

Sales of Mattel's signature doll dropped a whopping 21% last quarter, reports Matt Townsend at Bloomberg News. Revenue has declined more than 10% for the last four quarters. 

Mattel executives highlighted a few reasons that the iconic dolls are declining in popularity in an earnings call with investors. 

They also hinted at the future of Barbie, which CEO Bryan Stockton said is "still the number one dollar brand in the world" thanks to an empire of books, movies, clothing, and games. 

Here's why fewer girls are buying the dolls. 

1. Kids are spending more on tech.

The popularity of tablets, smartphones, and games is taking market share from Barbie dolls, Townsend writes. As kids increasingly spend their allowances on technology, plastic dolls aren't as exciting. 

To deal with this shift, Mattel has been offering a variety of Barbie apps, computer games, and movies.

The brand also sells a Barbie digital "makeover mirror" which allows girls to apply make-up to a Barbie doll's face.

2. Girls want edgier toys.

Monter High dolls are "cannibalizing" Barbie sales as girls opt for the edgier toys, company executives said last year. 

Mattel created Monster High in 2010, and sales have been skyrocketing ever since they hit shelves.

The dolls are inspired by famous monsters like Dracula, the Mummy, Medusa, and Frankenstein's monster, and retail for around $20 each (compared with around $10 for Barbie). 

Monster High is "all about celebrating your differences," company execs said on the call, adding that the franchise appeals to both younger and older girls.

The latest fashion dolls from Mattel Inc. are a dramatic departure from the toy maker's most recognizable blond: As the offspring of famous monsters, the new Monster High girls are fearless, occasionally furry and a bit freaky.

There's Draculaura, daughter of Dracula, who is vegan and faints at the sight of blood. Her best friend Clawdeen Wolf, whose father is Werewolf, spends much of her time plucking and shaving her excessive, fast-growing hair. And classmate Frankie Stein, who sports stitches just like dad Frankenstein, loves to shop for "scary cute clothes that are absolutely to die for."

"They're fun characters to build a world around," said Tim Kilpin, general manager for Mattel Brands. "Who doesn't feel like a freak in high school? It started with that universal truth."

Here are my top 3 costume tips:

1. Choose a costume that is comfortable and simple! Toddlers can't be bothered with carrying props, so stick to costumes that have everything included or aren't too complicated.

2. Dress in layers! Your child might decide when you arrive at a party that he has no desire to wear his costume any more. Don't be disappointed... be smart! Dress him in layers and make the bottom layer just as cute as the top. I love to buy skeleton pjs or cute Halloween shirts to put on under costumes so that when my kids choose to strip down (because they always do), they still look festive and cute.

3. Have low expectations and practice! Halloween is a crazy holiday for everyone and is different than the usual routine... so practice, practice, practice! Practice trick or treating around your house and practice having your child wear her costume a lot so that she becomes comfortable with it. Be flexible if your child isn't into wearing a costume. You will have plenty of years where they will LOVE dressing up... so don't worry too much if your little ones would rather forget about their costume and just have a lollipop. :)

Frankie Stein® has lost her spark! But her beast friends forever are rallying to give her a helping claw and get her recharged. Much of the action happens far below the howlways of Monster High® in the creepy cool catacombs - recreated with this play set. Top to Bottom Play and Display
Enter the Catacombs from the Monster High® courtyard at the top. Enjoy a snack at the cafe table. Give it a spin to reveal creepy cool effects on the pillars and in the party rooms: eyes peek through cracks and the chandelier rotates. When no one is lurking, take the gravestone elevator down one floor to the hybrid lounge or pass through the black gates and take the winding stairs - they go all the way to the bottom. Spin the dragon statue to uncover a doll clip that allows a ghoul to fang out on the balcony. 

Transformation and Surprise
Go down one more flight - take the stairs on either side - to hit bottom! The lowest floor features a party room with a secret passage that leads to the underground lab - place the clock hands on “1” and “3” to open the hidden door and gain entry. Fang out on the couch and work at the bench. When the experiment is done, head next door to relax - the pool flips to reveal an uhhmazing party scene.

Monster High recap comic con 2014

Well, mansters & ghouls comic con is a wrap and it was off the fang! Here are a few pictures from the reveals this year! We had so many reveals plus the synopsis of the new film "haunted".

It’s a Spectra movie! Looks like it features Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Twyla, Rochelle and Ghoulia.

The girls will be turned to ghosts and go to a haunted high school.

Becca is presenting Vandala Doubloons - she’s a pirate ghost. She’s very ocean and ship-wrecked themed.

Garrett presented River Styx. Daughter of the

 Grim Reaper. She has a candy color scheme and is very sweet.

And next is Monster Exchange - where new characters come to the school and some of MH girls go see other places. Looks like webisodes will introduce all the characters.
